At Detailing World, we have everything you could possibly need to get started as DIY Detailer. DIY car detailing starts with a basic car wash but doesn’t stop there - there is so much more to detailing your own car.
1. PREPARE YOU CAR
Before you start, roll down all the windows, remove all loose stuff - rubbish, change etc, remove the floor mats and empty the trunk of any belongings.
2. VACUUM THE INSIDE PROPERLY
Make sure you have the right tools. To vacuum a car, you will need a good quality vacuum cleaner, attachments and different types of brushes. Attachments help in reaching all the parts of the car’s interior and some of them include soft, narrow and wide brushes.

Vacuum the loose dirt. Remove the remaining loose dirt using the vacuum cleaner. You can use the vacuum without attachments to remove the loose dirt. For better vacuuming, remove the floor mats outside the car so that you can clean them and where they were placed much easier. Vacuum the seats, the seat folds, the carpet and any other areas that the vacuum cleaner can reach. Remove large pieces of dirt from the mats by shaking them over a wastebasket and then remove the stuck particles using the vacuum cleaner.
3. CLEAN YOUR UPHOLSTERY, INTERIOR TRIM AND CARPETS
Now that all the loose dirt, leaves and random bits and pieces have been vacuumed up, look at what’s left behind. You’ll likely need to do some upholstery and carpet cleaning, make sure to use a safe interior cleaning product such as Hydrosilex Deep Cleaning Interior Cleaner or Sonax Upholstery & Alcantara Cleaner
4. CLEAN ANY HARD PLASTIC SURFACES
Use an all-purpose cleaner to clean any hard internal plastic surfaces, such as the dashboard, any cup holders and the seat belts. When working be very careful around electronics — use msmaller tools such as cotton swabs or detailing brushesto avoid damage. We recommend Meguiar's All Purpose Cleaner or 3D All Purpose Cleaner
5. ELIMINATE LINGERING ODORS
If you have leftover odors from cigarettes, food, drinks or anything else, don’t cover it up with a simple air freshener. Find the source, and use an odor eliminator - after using the eliminator you can of course use a nice scent.
A couple of highly recommended products include CLO2 DeOdorPRO Odor Eliminator and Chemical Guys Signature Scent Air Freshener
6. WASH THE BODY OF YOUR CAR
Find a spot outside of the sun and get the car wet before you get it soapy using the two-bucket method: Use one bucket for clean, soapy water and one for rinsing - ideally using a grit guard, dipping a microfiber cloth in the first bucket and cleaning it in the second bucket. Wash your car a section at a time, starting at the top and working downward, so dirty water doesn’t run over an area you just cleaned. Use a soft chamois cloth to dry the car. 7. CLEAN ALL GLASS AND MIRRORS
